Wade Troxell, Candidate for Mayor Responds!

1. Do you have a favorite Artist or Art Event in Fort Collins?
Ellie Troxell (artist), Ellie Weakley (artist), FOCO Masks (event), New West Fest
(event)
2. How do you envision the future of the Fort Collins Arts Community?
We need to feature “creative innovation” as an economic cluster for Fort Collins;
the arts community is at the core of it. I support pursuit of a Creative District and
Innovation District designations for Fort Collins.
3. Are you aware that Fort Collins does not have an Arts Council? Do you think we
need one?
I need more information. We have a number of arts and cultural boards of
various kinds. The Cultural Resources Board is a broad citizens representation
for the City of Fort Collins. I would like more information or proposal for an Arts
Council.
4. How do you personally support the Arts in Fort Collins?
I support the arts community in Fort Collins and at CSU in various ways including
leader, sponsor, attendee, participant, contributor and cheerleader. Most
recently, I am the Council liaison to the Cultural Resources Board, financially
supported Streetmosphere, was a technical contributor to the Arts Incubator of the
Rockies, was a guest speaker to the Interior Design, Apparel Design and
Merchandising, Textile Design, and Graphic Design students at their Industry
Connections Day, am a team member of the CSU Creative Innovation Team that
features “design thinking”, and attended a recent performance of the Fort Collins
Symphony.
