Revisionist at Artworks Loveland

Save the date: Opening July 8 "Revisionist", an art installation by Suchitra Mattai.

Inspired by folklore and fairy tales, pop culture, and travel, Suchitra's work centers on the themes of identity and globalization. She uses intense fluorescent colors, distorted perspective and uncanny shifts in scale, to investigate the fragility, fluidity, and fragmentation of personal and cultural identity in the era of globalization.

Suchitra is a RedLine Contemporary Art Center resident and teaches at the University of Denver. She earned an MFA in painting and drawing and an MA in South Asian Studies, both from the University of Pennsylvania.

Rejoinder

Join LSC Arts for the opening reception of Rejoinder, a collaborative art exhibition with the Downtown Artery. This exhibition features the work of 7 CSU alum artists with a on focus on response; each artist created their piece in response to what was created by the artist before them.

The reception will take place in the Curfman Gallery of the LSC from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, July 1.

Help Fort Collins Create a “Creative Industries Director" Position!

If you would like to see the “Creative Industries Director" position created and finally have sustainable, on-going support for our growing arts community, then please share your voice. 1. Visit http://www.fcgov.com/citymanager/budget.php now.  Here you can create your own budget and leave comments. City staff will compile reports from input received on the website in mid-July and again on August 19th, so comments are valuable now and again in August.

2. Contact City Leaders directly.

Fort Collins Becomes a Creative District! (and holds a happy hour to celebrate!)

After a two year candidacy and competitive application process the Downtown Fort Collins Creative District has received certification by the Colorado Creative Industries Council as an official Creative District. Our district was selected along with only a handful of others from a pool of 15 Colorado cities and towns who applied to be certified this year.

We are very excited and appreciative of all your feedback, ideas, participation, help and leadership that has helped us get this award.  The impact of artists and creatives in Fort Collins is evident and we hope to be the megaphone telling your stories, advocating for the industry and serving as a hub for arts and creative industry.

The Downtown Fort Collins Creative District will now begin to grow into the visions developed throughout this discovery process.  We will continue to work towards the district's goals in as we begin connecting with you, weaving this creative tapestry together on our exciting and challenging journey.  Continue to develop more creative ideas, solutions, events, and art, and let us know what you are doing so we can help support your efforts.

More to come as we develop, for now we want to say thank you and congratulations it's another step in our recognition for our vibrant arts, creative businesses, innovative spirit and economic impact!
