Guidelines and applications are now available for Colorado Creative Industries' (CCI) Colorado Creates grants. These grants provide financial support to nonprofit cultural organizations and communities so that they can produce and present arts and cultural activities, bringing jobs to their communities and enhancing their quality of life.
"These grants support the artists and creative entrepreneurs who are critical to Colorado's economy," said Margaret Hunt, director of CCI. "By investing in this sector's vitality, the state builds its reputation as a premier creative hub and reaps significant economic returns."
Grant applicants must be Colorado 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations or independent components of Colorado public colleges or universities, or government agencies. Applicants must have been providing public arts or cultural heritage programs in Colorado for at least three years by the application deadline.
The funding period for projects and operations is Oct. 1, 2015-Sept. 30, 2016, and the deadline for receipt of online applications is 4 p.m. on Thurs., June 11, 2015.
Grant applications will be accepted through an online grant system, which can be accessed at www.coloradocreativeindustries.org. If you have application questions, please call 303-892-3802. An application resource handbook and online tutorials are also available at CCI's website.
Colorado Creates grants range from $4,000 to $10,000 and are awarded annually on a competitive basis. Last fiscal year, 162 grants were awarded in 32 counties across the state, totaling just over $1 million. Proposals are reviewed by panels based on three review criteria: artistic excellence and merit of proposed activities, community involvement and benefit from proposed activities, and implementation capacity.
