Mad & a Goat

Fort Collins Fringe Festival Benefit on Friday, January 9, 7pm at Bas Bleu Theatre Company - Fringe Benefits presents Mad & a Goat. The evening will begin in the Gallery Bleu with drinks and appetizers, an interactive scavenger hunt, a drawing for an Estes Park get-a-way and a Fringe Photo-booth! In addition, 2015 Festival Passes will be given to those wearing their fringiest fringe.

At 8pm, we will move into the theatre for Mad & a Goat, a piece of extraordinary theatre by MFA Playwright Candidate Diana Small with Heather Johnson (Fort Collins) and Paige Tautz (Santa Barbara, CA.)

Mad & a Goat is a two-women show about one woman, who, to free herself from college debt, joins a Wyoming goat farm she inherits from her occult-leader birth parents. There is seduction. There is beer. There are biscuits. And let’s not forget about the goats. The play had a workshop production in the first ever Fort Collins Fringe Festival at Bas Bleu Theatre in August 2013 and then another production in the Austin, TX FronteraFest at Salvage Vanguard Theatre in January 2014 made possible by a Scriptworks SeedSupport grant.

If the play featured another character, it would be Money: as a villain, as a sidekick, a ghost, a lover, a muse, a comic. The play is in conversation with the ever-growing population of student-debt burdened millennials as we negotiate between our “star privilege” nurtured by social media and the economic boom of our 90s childhood, and the realities of the present economic slump— there is just not enough money to go around, even if you have a shiny college degree and were told by your parents you’re infinitely special.

There will be a Liz Lerman-style Critical Response Process directly after the play.

All proceeds support the 2015 Fort Collins Fringe Festival.

Tickets are $20 until Dec 31; $30 Jan 1-8 and $35 at the door. Purchase Tickets Here.  Less than 100 tickets are available!
