Corcovado at Jay's Bistro this Thursday

Ahhh, YES!!! CORCOVADO!!! "Corcovado" (known in English as "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars") is a Bossa Nova written by Antonio Carlos Jobim in 1960 (the English lyric was later written by Gene Lees). In Portuguese the title refers to the Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro. "Corcovado" is a prime example of the positive music that the famous Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso speaks of, the music that takes you to the sea, to the beach, to fall in love, to be happy!

Recorded many times by countless well-known artists over the decades, it was recognized early on that "Corcovado" would stand the test of time in both Portuguese and English, and the gentle beauty of this standard would never lose its dreamy, enchanting, uplifting appeal!

If you like irresistible music, you will enjoy ALL the music at Jay's Bistro this Thursday evening, April 9th, beginning with the finest solo Jazz piano of Mark Sloniker at 6:30 pm, joined shortly by the magnificent bass of David B echer! AROUND 8:00 PM OR A LITTLE AFTER, there will be a Bossa Nova cameo, including "Corcovado," featuring the exceptional Brazilian guitar of Monty Hogan and flute and vocals by Judi Lucero. Other guests will sit in as well, and delightful music can be expected all evening until around 10:00 pm!!!
