Call for Artist Teachers

Wondering if your creativity camp idea would be a good fit? Give us a call or write and we will help you cultivate your class proposal.

It's time to start thinking about Summer plans. Steamboat Springs Arts Council is looking for teachers and artists to design and teach a week-long creativity camp. This is a great way to earn a little something while sharing your passion with students. Submit your proposal to teach a week-long creativity class for this Summer’s Young at Art Creativity Camps. Weekly sessions running June 13 – August 19, 2016.

Proposals due March 10th

Young at Art is one of the Steamboat Springs Arts Council’s longest running programs. Since the inception we have served thousands of children ages 4 -18, while providing support and sustenance to hundreds of artists/teachers in the valley.  This year’s programming will focus on the theme of Creative Problem Solving.

Children who can effectively problem solve are better prepared for this ever-changing world in which they will soon become leaders. Creativity is a fundamental tool in teaching children the importance of problem solving. Through creative projects, a problem or objective can be identified and solutions looked at from all angles. Often times there is more than one solution. Weaving this in our creativity camps will positively impact students by boosting their confidence, challenging their critical thinking skills, and stimulating their imagination. Young at Art students will walk away feeling accomplished as creative problem solvers.

Young at Art teachers are provided lots of Arts Council support:
We do the marketing
We take care of registrations and liability forms
We provide a dedicated assistant to help with your project, and to help with the logistics of gathering the students
We have a resource room called Create Space full of up-cycled supplies available for you
We can help you flesh out your idea if you haven’t taught it before
We provide a budget for material costs
You receive 50% of all of the registration fees (including scholarships)
Your creative guidance will make an impact on the lives of children in our community
Each session students meet Monday-Friday, daily from 8:30 – 12:00 for morning sessions and 1:00 – 4:30 for afternoon sessions. Half day and full day sessions are offered. We ask that teachers maximize the student’s class time by allowing 30 minutes before class to prepare and 30 minutes after class to pack up. Teachers receive half of registration fees.

Past classes have featured dance, photography, creative writing, painting, fashion design, music, robotics and theater. We are looking for programming for youth ages 4 and up.

Please contact Terese Coco, Education Program Manager at the Steamboat Arts Council and let us know how you’d like to share your treasure.
