STEP RIGHT UP: THRILLS, CHILLS, AND CURIOSITIES
A two-woman show featuring the art of Kayo Peeler and Dena Peterson, inspired by amusement parks and traveling carnivals.
Location:
Artworks, Loveland
310 North Railroad Avenue
Loveland, CO 80537
Exhibition Runs Through:
October 9 - November 5, 2015
About Exhibition:
October is the perfect time to experience the art of Kayo Peeler and Dena Peterson (formerly Kirk) in a special two-woman show. Memories, mysteries and realities of the sometimes surreal atmosphere of carnivals and amusement parks will unfold in this unique exhibit of deeply personal, sometimes whimsical, and always exciting work.
From the Artists:
“My work is painted on reclaimed wood, metal, and other cast-off industrial materials. This is a direct homage to the aged gears, flickering lights, rusty metal and peeling painted wood of the iconic Lakeside Amusement Park, near Denver, Colorado. ”
Dena Peterson, www.denapaints.com denapaints@gmail.com
“I examine popular culture and identity through a slightly dark, slightly twisted lens. This series re-imagines vintage female Carnival performers into my own personal, mythological divas, using surprising materials such as silicone, alpaca fur, and handmade sculptural elements. “
